2026 Canada policy update for Nepali applicants: The Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL/TAL) is required for most post-secondary study permit applications, but Master’s and doctoral students at public DLIs are exempt from the PAL requirement effective 1 January 2026. Proof of funds increased to CAD 22,895 per year for a single applicant outside Quebec (in addition to tuition and return airfare). The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) now has field-of-study restrictions for college programs (Healthcare, STEM, Trades, Transport priority) and requires English at CLB 7 for university graduates or CLB 5 for college graduates. Study permit fee is CAD 150 plus CAD 85 biometrics. PGWP application window is 180 days after final results.
